Aug. 31, 2008: Runners race through the Disneyland Resort and surrounding area in the 3rd annual Half Marathon Weekend, which includes a Family Fun Run and Kids Race.
Sept. 1, 1989: Disneyland Park welcomes its 300 millionth guest, Claudine Masson, 28, of Chatearoux, France, at 11:23 a.m. She had been visiting the park for the first time with her husband, Thierry. She received numerous gifts, including a Lifetime Passport to the park. She is the first international visitor to become an attendance milestone guest.
Sept. 2, 1979: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad opens in Frontierland, racing its first adventurous passengers past sandstone buttes. It replaced a slow-paced scenic train which had toured Rainbow Caverns and Nature’s Wonderland since 1956.
Sept. 4, 1955: Hobbyland opens in Tomorrowland (removed in 1966 as part of the 1967 redevelopment of Tomorrowland)
