Dec. 28, 2008: The Band of America’s National Honor Band performs on the steps of Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. It plays “Sesame Street” and “Stars and Stripes” for thousands of park-goers.
Dec. 30, 2008: MTV and Miley Cyrus take over Beckman High School in Irvine for a New Year’s Eve concert honoring a teen for outstanding charity work.
Dec. 31, 1957: The Park welcomes 5-year-old Leigh Woolfenden as its 10 millionth guest.
Dec. 31, 1957: The first annual New Year’s Eve Party takes place on Dec. 31 with 7,500 guests. Today the annual New Year’s Eve celebration is one of the most popular events at Disneyland.
Dec. 31, 1997: The traditional New Year’s Eve Party and midnight fireworks extravaganza over Sleeping Beauty Castle are broadcast live from Disneyland as part of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin Eve ‘98 on ABC-TV.
Jan. 1, 1959: Fantasyland Autopia opens.
Jan. 1, 1980: Disneyland Park presents a special 25th anniversary pre-parade show as part of the world-famous 92nd Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade.
