A Salute to Mardi Gras and Family Fun Weekends at Disneyland Resort
Happy “Fat Tuesday!” This is the final day of traditional Mardi Gras festivities. We celebrated Mardi Gras the past three weekends at the Disneyland Resort with “Mardi Gras Family Fun Weekends,” complete with lively music and dancing at New Orleans Square.
This was one in a series of “Family Fun Weekends” that began January 14. Thanks to everyone who joined us at Festival Arena and New Orleans Square in Disneyland park for these eight, great weekends. Here’s a look back at some of the activities from Fiesta Disneyland, Country Kickin’ Weekends, Character Fan Days, Happy Lunar New Year and Mardi Gras Weekends…
A lot of you really liked these exciting weekends, especially the characters, the food and the entertainment. Here are a few comments from our Disney Parks Blog readers:
Debra from CA had a great time at Character Fan Days and had this to say, “I was there on Friday and it was so much fun. Great to see these hard-to-see characters. So hope you do (it) again and I’m really excited to try and get to the Lunar New Year Days or Mardi Gras weekends.”
Loren added, “I experienced once of the most magical moments I’ve ever had at Disneyland and, interestingly enough, it didn’t involve the characters that weekend. I had the wonderful opportunity to get a sketch of Mickey Mouse from ‘The Band Concert’ (my favorite Mickey Mouse short) from the fabulous (artist) Stacia Martin.” Regarding the Happy Lunar New Year celebration, Dominic commented, “The show was very colorful from the Chinese dancers, martial arts performers, lion dancers, ribbon dancers, umbrella dancers, Chinese drummers and including the adorable Chinese children dancing. Disneyland also had characters dressed up in their Chinese New Year outfits with Mickey and Minney, Chip and Dale and Mulan and Mushu for photo opportunities.”
Some guests from Southern California took advantage of the special 2 days for $99 ticket to enjoy Family Fun Weekends. Those tickets can be purchased only through April 14. Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog to learn about other new entertainment coming soon to Disneyland park.
Which “Family Fun Weekend” did you enjoy the most?
